I am enjoying reading “Its my Town” online. In tracing my family tree, my Great Great Grandmother, Dommittile Robidou came from St. Anicet. She was born June 2, 1836 and passed on May 25, 1912 here in Joplin, Missouri, USA. I have deep French roots in Quebec Province and hope to travel through the St. Lawrence River Valley in 2020. Her parents were Benjamin Pierre Robidou (Robidoux) born in 1807 and Esther Dancoux, born in 1808. Dommitille met Antoine Chatelle at the Catholic Church in St. Anicet. They were married later in Ogdensburg, New York. They left St. Anicet with seven children and made their way on a barge down the St. Lawrence River cutting and selling wood to make their way overland to Joplin, located in the southwest corner of Missouri and open a sawmill in the lead mining boom here. Antoine had been a former teacher in the French schools in Canada. I am trying to find any descendants still in St. Anicet or the Chateauguay Valley Region, and possibly locate the home they lived in there, or the home that Dommitille lived in. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. I would be so appreciative for any information or early pictures. Thank you.
