On November 21, 2018, twenty-six students in the Farm Management and Technology (FMT) CEGEP program at Macdonald Campus of McGill University were recognized for their academic achievements and community involvement, during the annual FMT Program Awards Evening in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. In total, over $14,000 in bursaries were awarded to deserving students that evening.
Five students from the Chateauguay Valley were recipients of awards. Third-year student Eric Brooks from Franklin received the Stuart McDonald Memorial Bursary. Keesha Ness, a first-year student from Howick, and Logan Arnold, a first-year student from Hinchinbrooke, each received a Spirit of Agriculture bursary from the Haut-Saint-Laurent Syndicate of the Union des producteurs agricoles. Valleyfield resident and second-year student David Billette was awarded the Edna L. Smith Memorial Bursary. Noel Erskine, a third-year student from Hinchinbrooke, received one of two Paul Adam Memorial Awards, which was newly established at Macdonald after being awarded at Kemptville College for several years before its closure in 2015.
