Week of December 16-22, 2018
by Peter Finlayson Ormstown
The third week of December brought a warm spell toward the end which helped raise the average temperature for the week to -4.4 Celsius. The previous week the average temperature was -5.6 Celsius while the normal for the month is -4.5 Celsius. So, back to normal for Christmas but without any snow left because it rained a lot as well. There was 34 mm of rain with a smattering of snow (0.6 cm!), which brings the monthly total to 62 mm of precipitation, made up of 54 mm of rain and only 7 cm of snow. That’s about normal precipitation for the first three weeks of the month, but it will leave us with a green Christmas as there’s no snow in the forecast until the 28th. In any case, happy holidays to all, green or not!
