The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent and the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall are happy to present Sonia Laurin and her exhibition “Petites ailes”, from March 12 to April 9, 2017 for the 7th edition of the TRACE Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent project (Traquer la Relève Artistique et Culturelle en Émergence).
The TRACE project, which was to be disbanded following dissolution of the CRÉ, is now alive and well again. After last year, which was one of transition, the representatives of four artistic venues from the preceding editions will take up the challenge again this year without any outside assistance. The MUSO, Musée de société des Deux-Rives, the Alfred- Langevin Hall in Huntingdon, Maison Trestler and the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges in Vaudreuil-Dorion, will offer young emerging artists another opportunity to exhibit their work.
Sonia Laurin is one of the four artists selected from among the candidates. Originally from Mercier, she has a solid academic background, including a DEC in visual arts from the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and a Bachelor of Art History from the Université du Québec à Montréal. She specializes in symbolic portraits of women, employing collage and mixed acrylic techniques. “I am proud to present my exhibition at the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall in this celebration of our home grown talent with people from our community,” she explained.
The Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall will therefore be one of four locations offering exhibitions in this 7th edition of TRACE Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent highlighting works of our local up-coming artists.
